Stephanie and I finally found a house to call our own. It’s a 1918 craftsman in Ballard. A huge thank you to Andrew Mellon who helped us every step of the way and was worth his weight in gold.
— PETER AND STEPHANIE W,
Andrew helped me sell my home in Seattle and purchase my new home in Bainbridge. I was extremely impressed by his knowledge and responsiveness. When I was buying my new home, Andrew helped us navigate long negotiations and repairs with the sellers- driving out to the house often to check on the status and quality of the repairs. When it came time to sell my house in Seattle, Andrew had very creative ideas to prepare the house for the market. He not only oversaw the contractors that prepared our house for the market- he was working beside them! From start to finish, I was very impressed with how calmly and professionally he handled the transactions. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy/ sell a home in the Pacific Northwest.

Hello, neighbor. New to town?

If you've read this far, thanks for being here. Part of why I like being a real estate agent is getting to know Seattle's most interesting neighborhoods and people. Seattle offers the best of all worlds: a thriving high-tech metropolis and eclectic array of neighborhoods, all nestled amid plenty of water and rejuvenating green nature.

Our most popular neighborhoods are awesome: Ballard, Fremont, Phinney Ridge, Wallingford, Belltown, South Lake Union, Capitol Hill. But for those who like to go a little deeper, there are gems to be discovered in the quieter places too. If you're keen to explore, let me share some hints. These are just a few of my favorite neighborhoods: Madrona, Alki, and Maple Leaf

Coffee with the owner of Grapheme Letterpress, Central District

The Central District

coffee, creatives & a great chiropractor

The Central District is close enough to downtown for a lightening fast commute, but still maintains a creative cultural vibe and is off the beaten path. A few gems: Grapheme Letterpress is an independent shop where you can buy handmade paper gifts and take classes; Katy’s Corner Cafe is nearby and for great coffee + breakfast sandwiches; and if your back/neck are aching from looking at real estate on your phone all day, go visit my friend from childhood, Dr. Jeffrey Word, at Central Wellness Chiropractic up the street [edit: Central Wellness has relocated to Bainbridge Island, WA, where I am also known to help people buy/sell homes!]. He works wonders. Grab a beer with your friends at Chucks Hop Shop.

Kayaking at Seward Park with Seattle's skyline in the distance.

Seward Park

nature walks, bald eagles & quiet coffee shops

If a quieter city life near the lake is what you crave, I know a place. It's called Seward Park and is nestled on the shores of Lake Washington, south of the I-90 bridge to Mercer Island. Sundays are easy here. Hit up Cafe Vita first for a cup of this city's most unbeatable roast, then walk or drive the few blocks down to Seward Park itself. Wander or kayak around 300 acres of gorgeous forest and water trails. Two bald eagles live here, you'll probably hear them. Book lovers, be sure to visit Third Place Books, where you can also get coffee...again.

Seattle Yoga Arts, sanity-supporting yoga on East Capitol Hill

Madison Valley & East Capitol Hill

soul food, italian wine & sanity-supporting Yoga

Cresting Capitol Hill makes you wonder what's on the other side. It's pretty nice over here. If yoga is your thing, check out get your om on at Seattle Yoga Arts. Then head down the hill to Madison Valley to find the hidden soul food. Simply Soulful is tucked away off the main street so the masses won't find the fried chicken and waffles. Now you know. If you're in the mood for Tuscan wine to wash it down, go next door to Bar Cantinetta. Just don't blame me if you stay for dessert. Two Doors Down, burgers and best fries in town!

Soft summer evening wine at Bottlehouse in Madrona

Madrona

Glassblowing, great brunch & a bottlehouse

Madrona is so hidden I didn't even know it was here until I'd lived in Seattle for a few years. It is full of beautiful original craftsman homes on intimate streets. 34th Ave is where the action is, if you can call chilling out introvert-style "action." The glassblowing artists at glassybaby are fun to watch at work. Brunch at St. Clouds or the Hi Spot Cafe is pretty darned delicious, too. But the best thing is that the wine restaurant, Bottlehouse, is just one door down from the walk-up ice cream window at Molly Moon's. So there you go.
